Matt Chico and Patrick McCoy combined on a four-hit shutout as the Hagerstown Suns defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds 6-0 on Sunday in a South Atlantic League game at Municipal Stadium.
Chico, on a rehab assignment for the Washington Nationals, worked the first four innings, giving up just two hits. He did not walk or strike out anyone.
McCoy (2-1) picked up the win with five innings of two-hit relief, striking out four.
Hagerstown got on the board in the first inning. Jose Lozada led off with a single and Derek Norris hit a one-out double to left to score Lozada. A wild pitch by Cole McCurry moved Norris to third, and Tyler Moore brought Norris home with a sacrifice fly.
The Suns made it 3-0 in the third when Lozada walked with one out and Stephen Lombardozzi followed with an RBI triple to right.
