Several Washington County athletes, who were seniors this spring, plan to compete at the collegiate level as freshmen next school year.

Boonsboro boys: Jordan Acton (Salisbury), Jordan Garver (Hagerstown CC), Steve Kopp (Hagerstown CC), Colby Martin (Shenandoah), Scott Rice (Mount St. Mary's).

Boonsboro girls: Danielle Brown (Shenandoah), Katie Marshall (Salisbury).

Clear Spring boys: Mitch Blevins (Hagerstown CC), Cory Horton (St. Francis).

Clear Spring girls: Kirstie McMurray (Salisbury).

Hancock boys: Branden Vanorsdale (Hagerstown CC).

North Hagerstown girls: Brooke Pettner (Hagerstown CC), Taryn Shank (Elizabethtown).

Smithsburg boys: Tyler Barnhart (Hagerstown CC), Zach Cross (Hagerstown CC), Joe Edwards (Hagerstown CC), Michael Jewell (Ashland University), Billy Lawrence (Mount St. Mary's).


Smithsburg girls: Cara Wagaman (Salisbury), Jamie Wisz (Hagerstown CC).

Williamsport boys: Nathaniel Clark (Hagerstown CC), Naseem Haje (King's College), Stephen Ingraham (Hagerstown CC), Rio Ferrario (Hagerstown CC), Michael Lilley (Appalachian State).

Belt 7th in high jump

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Louisville's Tone Belt, a Berkeley Springs graduate, placed seventh in the men's high jump at 7 feet, 1 1/2 inches Friday night at the NCAA Division I championships.
