Summer foreign language classes



The Friends of the Library is offering foreign language classes this summer. Registration is required and is underway. Register at the library where the desired class is to be held. All classes are free and there is a limit of two classes per student.




Main Library, 100 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown



  • Monday, June 22 through Friday, June 26, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Spanish for grades 3 and 4;

  • Monday, July 13 through Friday, July 17, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Spanish for grades 5 and 6;

  • Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., German for grades 3 through 6.




    Boonsboro Library, 401 Potomac St.



  • Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., German for grades 3 through 6.




    Clear Spring Library, 12624 Broadfording Road



  • Tuesday, July 14 through Friday, July 17, 3 to 5 p.m., Japanese Culture for grades 3 through 6.




    Smithsburg Library, 66 W Water St.



  • Monday, June 22 through Friday, June 26, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Spanish for grades 3 and 4;

  • Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Spanish for grades 5 and 6.

Gospel sing



BOONSBORO -Boonsboro Family Worship Center will host a free gospel concert at 7 p.m. today. The public is invited.

Performers include Old Time Family Quartet, Family Trio and Doug Frye. This is a concert only.

The Boonsboro Family Worship Center is at 7605 Old National Pike.

Church plans block party for kids



A block party will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in Hagerstown's West End. The public is invited.

The party will be at the parking lot of First Baptist Church, at the corner of High Street and Washington Avenue, next to Western Enterprise Fire Co.

The party has a vacation Bible school theme and will have food, games and a moon bounce.

Tie dye for teens



SMITHSBURG - The Smithsburg branch of the Washington County Free Library will hold a Teen Tie Dye event at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 18.

Teens should bring an article of clothing that is plain white and cotton, such as a T-shirt, bandana, pillowcase or pair of socks. This event is open to ages 12 to 18.
