FREDERICK, Md. -- Mrs. Ruby Anne Zimmerman Baker, 80, of Frederick, died Monday, June 8, 2009, at Meadows Dialysis Center in Hagerstown.

She was the wife of the late Russell Linwood Baker, who died in September 1995.

Mrs. Baker was born in Frederick on May 26, 1929, a daughter of the late John Melvin and Grace Grove Zimmerman.

She was a graduate of Frederick High School, class of 1947, and for many years worked in the office of Sagner's in Frederick.

She was a life member of Frederick Church of the Brethren and also a member of the Christ Quest Sunday School Class, Women of the Moose, the Auxiliary of the Francis Scott Key American Legion and NARFE.

Surviving are her son, John R. Baker, and fiancee, Debra Creamer, of Frederick, who were her constant caregivers; one daughter, Melanie A. Campbell, and husband, George, of Brunswick; one brother, John David Zimmerman, and wife, Naomi, of Frederick; two sisters, Mareietta Z. Harsher of Frederick and Rebecca Z. Wetzel of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Taylor Campbell of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by Debra's daughter, Jessica Hess, and her daughter, Jazmyne A. Lewi; and a special friend like a son, Dale Boyer of Frederick.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick. The Rev. Sandy Evans Rogers, pastor of Christian Formation, and the Rev. Dr. James S. Flora, former pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Pallbearers will be Dale Boyer, Steven Gastley, Mike Fraley, Mark Zimmerman, David Ray and Keith Harsher.
