Fire destroys abandoned trailer



A fire Thursday destroyed an abandoned trailer at the end of Wild Rose Lane off Trovinger Mill Road east of Hagerstown, said Kirk Mongan, chief of the Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Co.

The trailer, which appeared to be an old camping trailer, was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, Mongan said.

The fire, which was reported at 5:38 p.m., was determined to be accidental and apparently occurred when a trash fire spread to the trailer, Mongan said.

Martinsburg man charged with delivery of controlled substance



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A Martinsburg man was arrested Thursday after investigators used a confidential informant to purchase crack cocaine from the man, according to a Martinsburg Police Department press release.

Curtis Wayne Lane, aka Curt-Curt, 44, of 707 W. Burke St., Apt. 5, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, Detective S.F. Doyle said.

The confidential informant went to the 100 block of North High Street and met with a man in a white T-shirt, Doyle said.

Lane allegedly entered the informant's car and the two traveled to another location, Doyle said.

Lane later allegedly gave the informant crack cocaine in exchange for money, Doyle said.

Police then moved in on the car and arrested Lane, who said he was on federal probation, Doyle said.

Car stolen in Greene Township



SCOTLAND, Pa. -- Troopers Wednesday were searching for a vehicle stolen Tuesday from the 700 block of Valley Pine Court in Greene Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said.

The vehicle was described as a black 2001 Pontiac Sunfire with Pennsylvania tag GCG7255, troopers said in a news release.

Fayetteville man charged with indecent assault



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A Fayetteville, Pa. man was charged with indecent assault in May, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The man had indecent contact with an underage girl, troopers said in a news release.

Timothy Lynn Gossert, 47, of 108 Mont Alto Road, was charged.

Incidents reported to Washington Co. deputies



The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following incidents, according to Lt. Mark Knight:

Tuesday:

o At 5 a.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 17700 block of Virginia Avenue, at the Shell station. A stereo was taken from a vehicle, but recovered after a chase.

o At 7:22 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at Eastern Elementary School. Someone threw paint at one of the school's brick walls.

o At 7:33 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at Springfield Middle School. Someone knocked a brick wall over.

o At 7:55 a.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 500 block of Beaver Creek Road. Someone broke out the window of a home and took a nail gun and compressor.

o At 8:27 a.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 19200 block of Longmeadow Road, at TG Designs. Someone took cash from the register.

o At 9:40 a.m., vandalism was reported in the 11700 block of Peacock Trail. Someone egged a house and put a potato in the tailpipe of a vehicle.

o At 9:53 a.m., vandalism was reported in the 12000 block of Heather Drive. Someone egged a house overnight.

o At 11:14 a.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 20800 block of Leitersburg Pike, at T&C Greenhouse. Someone broke in, and cash was missing from the register.

o At 12:36 p.m., property was found in the 18400 block of Mansfield Road. A video camera was found at a park in Keedysville and may be claimed at the sheriff's office.

o At 1:16 p.m., shoplifting was reported at the Sears in the Valley Mall in Halfway. A female took clothing from the store.

o At 3:19 p.m., vandalism was reported in the 11800 block of Peacock Trail. Someone egged vehicles overnight.

o At 3:34 p.m., a violation of a protection order was reported in the 18600 block of Northaven Street.

o At 3:47 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the area of Garis Shop Road. Someone threw a large stick at a vehicle.

o At 7:49 a.m., a domestic dispute was reported in the 200 block of Stanford Road.

o At 8:24 p.m., shoplifting was reported at the Sears in the Valley Mall in Halfway.

o At 9:15 p.m., a domestic dispute was reported in the 11100 block of Nursery Road.

o At 9:45 p.m., drug violations were reported in the area of the Md. 632 and Interstate 70 Park and Ride.
