MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Carlton "Carl" Leslie, 67, of Martinsburg, died Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born in Trego-Mt. Briar, Md., on Dec. 17, 1941, his parents were Cyrus Edgar Leslie and Ruth Josephine Miller Leslie. He grew up on Jefferson Boulevard in Hagerstown, Md.

He was a 1959 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Forstal and in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving honorably and proudly.

He worked at MCI in Hagerstown and the Patuxeant Institute in Jessup, Md., for nearly 15 years as a correctional officer. He worked as an electrician's helper for various electrical companies in the area and the Antrim House in Hagerstown. For a time, he operated a lawn and garden equipment repair shop on Jefferson Boulevard in Hagerstown.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Shoenberger and Cheryl Kreps, both of Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Brandon Williams and Sara Arnold; and cousins, Virginia McCusker of Clear Spring, Md., and Lester Grimm, of Bel Air, Md.


Military graveside services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
