CLEAR SPRING, Md. - Daniel George Gordon, 79, of Clear Spring, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at his home.

Born Aug. 7, 1929, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late William and Margaret Brent Gordon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Jean Gordon, in 1993.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He retired from Walsh and Kohler.

He was a member of American Legion Williamsport Post 202.

He is survived by one son, William Gordon of Clear Spring; three daughters, Katherine Chadwick of Stockbridge, Ga., Judi Voltaggio of Brooksville, Fla., and Joanie Ridlen of Hiram, Ga.; two sisters, Barbara Elliott of Olney, Md., and Kim Wamaling of Germantown, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Gordon.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md. The Rev. James Nirappell will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Military graveside services will be conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

The family will receive friends today at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
