ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - Leonard Woodrow Davis, 95, of Zephryhills and formerly of Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, June 5, 2009, at Westbrooke Manor Assisted Living in Zephryhills.

Born May 5, 1914, in Hagerstown, to the late Richard Cornelius Jr. and Alice Gertrude Cline Davis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Irene Stockslager Davis, on Dec. 22, 1995.

Leonard lived in Hagerstown and moved to Florida in 1995, where his daughter Janet had moved. He lived his last five years in Westbrooke Manor, enjoying the company of other seniors, the entertainment that frequented the manor and trips out with his family. He especially liked ice cream and Coke.

He was employed by the Hagerstown Shoe Co.

He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lappans, and was a member of the vestry.

He was a member of Hagerstown Shoe Quarter Century Club; Manor Church Senior Citizens Club; Elks Lodge 378, Hagerstown; and Loyal Order of Moose, Hagerstown.


Survivors include grandchildren, Steven Lynn of Seattle, Wash., Jim Lynn of Seattle, Ed Lynn of Seattle and Patty Lynn of Detroit, Mich.; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn of Seattle, Rachel Lynn of Seattle, Mindy Lynn of Seattle, Abby Lynn of Seattle and Daniel Madden of Detroit.

He was predeceased by his only daughter, Janet Eileen Davis Lynn, in May 2003.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lappans, on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Anne Weatherholt officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Boonsboro, Md.
