Nevin Harshman, son of Nevin R. and Tammy S. Harshman, a senior at Clear Spring High School, has been awarded the following scholarships:

His career field will be nursing.




The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Terry Otzelberger Jr. of Williamsport has been recognized for academic achievement as a U.S. National Honor Student Award winner.

Otzelberger, who attends Williamsport High School, will appear in the academy's yearbook, which is published nationally.

He is the son of Julie Billman of Williamsport and the grandson of Doug and Joyce Hose of Williamsport and Pat and Terry Otzelberger of Sharpsburg.




The Community Foundation of Washington County has announced that Erin Connors is the recipient of the first Young Scholars Award.

The scholarship was established by Mike and Marlene Young to benefit graduating seniors at Smithsburg High School.

Eligible students must have maintained honor roll status throughout their junior and senior years in high school and plan to pursue a career in business, education or music.

STEVENSON, Md. - Kevin M. Motz, a biology major from Hagerstown, received the Orsia F. Young Leadership Award at Stevenson University.

Motz is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School and is the son of David Motz and Cindy Brezler.

The award is given to graduating students who have performed in an outstanding manner in the university community.

The award recognizes the contributions of Orsia Foudos Young, class of 1979, who served the university as a faculty member and senior administrator from 1987 to 2003.




Sarah A. Reed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Strite of Williamsport, graduated May 1 from Central Pennsylvania College with a bachlor of science degree in information technology with a focus on network management and cyber security.

She graduated summa cum laude with a 3.88 grade-point average.

Sarah is a 2002 graduate of Washington County Technical High School's computer technical program.

She is also a 2004 graduate of York Technical Institute with an associate's degree in specialized business with an emphasis in computer systems specialist.

Sarah is employed at Foot Locker Corporate office in Camp Hill, Pa., as a documentation analyst. She and her husband, Jacob Reed, live in Mechanicsburg, Pa.




CEDARVILLE, OHIO - Daniel Michael of Williamsport has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Cedarville University.

He is a junior majoring in history.

He is the son of George and Cheryl Michael.

Daniel is on a three-week study trip to Israel. He is taking classes at Jerusalem University College. The students will visit many sites in Jerusalem.




CARLISLE, Pa. - Marissa Chen Cho, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wan Cho of Hagerstown, graduated from Dickinson College with a bachelor of arts degree in international business and management.

Cho is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Sunnyway Great Valu has awarded its fifth annual Great Scholarship for Great Students Scholarship to Lauren Ryder of Hagerstown. The $1,000 scholarship is to help defray the cost of post-secondary education.




FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Jana Patricia Minchoff of Middletown, Md., graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in religion from the University of Mary Washington May 9.




WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel College awarded more than 440 bachelor's degrees May 23 at the college's 139th commencement.

Cory Alan Briggs of Frederick, Md,, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in exercise-chemistry.

Sarah Ashley Costa of Frederick graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in environmental policy and science.

Laura Nicole Davis of Frederick graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in English.

Bradley Hayes Eyler of Middletown, Md., graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in exercise science and phys. ed.
