Area Roundup -- North grad Hose is a Midwest League All-Star

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- T.J. Hose has adapted to his new role very nicely.

The North Hagerstown graduate, who plays for the South Bend Silver Hawks, Arizona's Single-A affiliate, was selected to play in the Midwest League All-Star Game on Friday.

Hose, who was projected to be a starter, was moved to the bullpen by the Diamondbacks organization out of need. He has responded with a 1-1 record in 15 appearances with six saves while walking five and striking out 23.

The Midwest League All-Star Game will be played in Clinton, Iowa on June 23.

Mies, Weatherholtz earn scholarship awards

Seniors Robbie Mies of Williamsport and Jared Weatherholtz of Musselman recently were recognized as the Washington County Wrestling Official Association's scholarship award winners.

Mies was the Maryland Class 2A-1A state champion at 215 pounds this year, while Weatherholtz placed third in West Virginia Class AAA at 189.

McIntire to attend Centenary

Heritage Academy graduate Morgan McIntire, a three-time Herald-Mail All-Area First Team girls basketball honoree, will continue her career at NCAA Division III Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J.

McIntire led the Eagles to the Mason Dixon Christian Conference tournament title and a second-place finish in the Maryland Christian State Tournament in Division I during her senior season. She averaged 20.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.9 assists. As a junior, McIntire guided Heritage to the MCST Division II state title.

Centenary finished 17-9 last season and led Division III in points per game at 81.5.

Shepherd youth football camps

Shepherd University will be hosting two youth football camps -- the first on June 22-24 for ages 7-10, and the second on June 25-27 for ages 11-14. The camps are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost of each camp session is $75, with checks made payable to the Shepherd University Foundation. Campers are to bring their own lunch.
