W.Va. couple wins ceremony of a lifetime

June 05, 2009|By CRYSTAL SCHELLE

STEPHENSON, Va. -- Dena Morgan, 37, and Todd Glover, 36, have said their wedding has been 30 years in the making. Their courtship will culminate on Oct. 11, when Morgan and Glover will have their wedding at Historic Jordan Springs.

Morgan and Glover competed in the Dream Wedding Giveaway sponsored by Historic Jordan Springs Event & Cultural Centre in Stephenson. The Martinsburg couple competed against three other couples to win the wedding, which has an estimated value of $80,000.

Morgan and Glover were featured in a story in The Herald-Mail's April 24 edition. The additional aspects of the wedding, from the gown to the rings, will be voted on by the public. The carriage ride vote is closed.

Morgan said she has no trouble handing over to the public decisions like where they'll honeymoon or what types of flowers she will carry. She says the public won't get to vote on decisions such as whether their pastor will perform the ceremony or what the couple's first dance will be.

Morgan and Glover have been friends since they were in elementary school. They were engaged on Feb. 2, 2008, and thought they would have to push back their wedding to at least until 2010.

"It's just amazing," Morgan said. "(The contest) made something we thought was impossible into a reality to us."
