LITTLE COVE, Pa. -- Charles E. "Doc" Zimmerman, 85, of Little Cove, Pa., died at 12:03 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in Autumn Assisted Living Home, Hagerstown, Md.

Born Jan. 9, 1924, in Little Cove, he was a son of the late Luther Martin and Margaret Ellen Keefer Zimmerman.

A lifelong farmer in Little Cove, he also operated a sawmill and did custom sawmill work.

He served as a Warren Township Supervisor for a number of years and was a former member of the Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery Association. He enjoyed hunting, especially turkey hunting, and the outdoors.


He was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church of Little Cove for more than 50 years.

His wife, Ruth C. Seburn Zimmerman, died Dec. 15, 2000.

Surviving are his daughter, Carol S. (Mrs. Ronald E.) Michael of Hancock, Md.; one granddaughter, Kimberly D. Michael; sister, Edna J. Funk of Little Cove; two brothers, Harry J. Zimmerman of Little Cove and Claude R. Zimmerman of Mercersburg, Pa. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Samuel, Denton, George and John Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, in Mount Zion Lutheran Church with the Revs. Hank Mansell and Willis Swope officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, and one hour before services Saturday in the church.
