Charles George Henneberger, 81, of 13222 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at his home.

Born Sunday, Nov. 20, 1927, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late John L. Henneberger and the late Edna M. Harshman Henneberger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Jane Henneberger, in 2007.

He was employed with Ewing Oil Co. for 16 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Free Lutheran Church in Leitersburg, Md., where he served on the church council.

He was a charter member of the Longmeadow Fire Co. and a member of the Washington County Fire Police Association and the Leitersburg Ruritan Club.

He is survived by one daughter, Karen Marie Stuller of Hagerstown; one son, Richard Lewis Henneberger of Boonsboro, Md.; a sister, Janice M. Hartsell of Henderson, N.C.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Wayne Henneberger; a sister, Patricia Snyder; and one granddaughter.

Services will be Friday, June 5, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home,1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Terry W. Culler and Chaplain Sherry Miller officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
