Jefferson County man faces drug charges

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. -- A 20-year-old Jefferson County man is accused of buying $2,700 in heroin in Baltimore and bringing it back to West Virginia, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.

Corey Robert Ford, of 986 Hostler Road in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., was arraigned by Magistrate Harry L. Snow on felony counts of possession with intent to deliver heroin and transporting a controlled substance into the state, according to court records.

Ford was being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond Wednesday evening at Eastern Regional Jail.

Ford was a passenger in a vehicle that West Virginia State Police Cpl. M.A. Cole stopped Tuesday on W.Va. 51 in Bunker Hill for having an obstructed view, according to complaint filed with the court by Cole and Cpl. B.W. Bean.

The heroin was discovered by a K-9 handled by Sgt. K.E. Plumer.

A woman who was driving the vehicle told police Ford gave her the drugs after he bought them from a man in Baltimore known as "D," according to the troopers' complaint.
