HALFWAY - Edward Guy Carmel, 74, of Halfway, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Hagerstown, Md.

He was born May 4, 1935, in Nanty-Glo, Pa., to the late Guy Arthur and Agnes Marie Johnson Carmel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Lee Feeley Carmel, on June 17, 2007.

He was employed by Mack Trucks Inc. of Hagerstown for 25 years, until retiring in 1987.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsport, Md.

He was also a member of Friendship Lodge 84 of Hagerstown, Ali-Ghan Shrine of Cumberland, Md., and Potomac Post 202 American Legion of Williamsport.

Survivors include daughter Rebekah L. Carmel of Charlottesville, Va., and aunt Geraldine Mulhollen of Silver Spring, Md.

A memorial service will be at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. W. Gregory Martin. Burial will be at the convenience of the family, in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
