Police puts loaned vehicle to use

June 02, 2009

The Hagerstown Police Department has been loaned a four-wheel vehicle from Twigg Cycles Inc., which it uses to patrol in areas where a regular cruiser cannot be used, Hagerstown Police Chief Arthur Smith said Monday.

The vehicle, which was used during the Western Maryland Blues Fest, also comes in handy for other calls.

In one case, it was used to take a person to an ambulance after the person was injured in an accident near railroad tracks, Smith said.

Through the loan agreement, offered through Yamaha, the department could get another vehicle if it gets a lot of use from the current one, Smith said.
