BOONSBORO --Â A waterline expansion project soon will carry Boonsboro town water to an area just outside of town that has been affected by contaminated water.
The Boonsboro Town Council voted unanimously Monday to proceed with a more than $900,000 construction project to expand town water service to 62 homes and businesses along Alternate U.S. 40, Scenic View Court and Mill Point Road.
Construction is expected to begin by June 15.
The project will be paid for primarily through a $677,500 state grant, said Councilman Kevin M. Chambers. The council also voted Monday to accept a $300,000 loan from the state.
Chambers said the loan will be paid back with money received from the 62 new connectors at a rate of 1 percent interest over the next 20 years.
