Larry E. Fuss, 67, of 11547 Englewood Road, Hagerstown, Md., died unexpectedly at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Md.

Born July 4, 1941, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Lambert W. and S. Louise (Pentz) Fuss.

He retired from Manitowoc Crane of Shady Grove, Pa., after 34 years employment. In his earlier years, he was an X-ray technician at Waynesboro Hospital and for Dr. Patalinghug.


Larry attended Harvest Baptist Church of Hagers town and was a life member of the Rescue Hose Co. No. 1 of Greencastle, Pa., and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Hagerstown. He was a 1959 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. He enjoyed reading, history, gardening, watching birds and traveling.

Surviving family are his wife and best friend of 22 years, Shirley K. (Crist) Fuss; son, Brian C. Fuss of Ellicott City, Md.; daughter, Cindy L. Fuss of Harrisburg, Pa.; stepsons, Timothy Crist of Hagerstown and Gregory Barnhart of Clear Spring, Md.; grandson, Brandon Barnhart, whom he was helping to raise; grandchildren, Ellen, Craig, Sarah, Tyler, Callie, Natalie and Alaina; stepmother, Mildred L. (Hartman) Glaser Fuss of Chambersburg, Pa.; two stepsisters; and one stepbrother.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle with Pastor Jim Moore officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
