Gerrardstown (W.Va.) United Methodist Church, 2043 Gerrardstown Road, a yard sale/flea market will be today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. Food will be available.

Word of Truth Outreach Ministries, each Sunday this summer, this week at Wheaton Park, 2 to 5 p.m. Books are distributed along with help with medications, housing, school supplies, food, etc.


Christ Reformed Church, 304 E. German St., Shepherdstown, W.Va., will celebrate Pentecost Sunday at 7 p.m. with a festival communion service. The Rev. Delancy Catlett, minister of Christ Reformed Church, Sharpsburg, and Mount Vernon Reformed Church, Keedysville, will speak. Organist Mary Ann Morgan and a community choir will present a musical prelude at 6:45 p.m. A reception will follow the service.

St. Michael the Archangel Anglican Church will be celebrating the 460th birthday of the Book of Common Prayer with an 11:30 a.m. service Sunday from the 1549 edition of this historic volume, written in the language of Renaissance England. St. Michael meets at Braddock Lutheran Church, 6938 N. Clifton Road, Frederick.

Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave., will be having its second evening service Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Music, drama, brief meditation is planned. Ringgold Meeting House, 14426 Misty Meadow Road, Ringgold, the annual Brethren in Christ Heritage service at the 1871 meeting house will be June 7 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth Hoke will speak on the church family of the past, present and future. Elizabeth Brown also will speak, and the Rev. Donald McNiven will lead singing and speak of his late parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Andrew McNiven.

Tibetan Meditation Center, 9301 Gambrill Park Road, Frederick, the 14th annual spring retreat will continue through June 7. Founder Khenchen Konchok Gyatlshen Rinpoche and others will teach.
