HANCOCK, Md. - Virginia I. Mellott, 79, of Hancock, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at her home.

Born July 24, 1929, in Sleepy Creek, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Fred T. and Erma Clingerman McInturff.

She was employed by Londontown Corp. in Hancock, retiring in 1993.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She was a 1948 graduate of Hancock High School.

She was a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lester G. Mellott of Hancock; two sons, Gregory L. Mellott and Ricky D. Mellott, both of Hancock; one sister, Velda M. Hoffman and husband, Calvin, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one brother, Fred L. McInturff and wife, Wendy, of Berkeley Springs; one goddaughter, Kim Dove and husband, Jimmy, of Manassas, Va.; two grandchildren, Leslie D. Caldwell and husband, Michael, of Berkeley Springs, and Ricky D. Mellott Jr. of Hancock; and two great-grandchildren, Destiny M. Mellott and Peyton M. Caldwell.


Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma R. Woods; and one daughter-in-law, Paula J. Mellott.

Services will be Friday, May 29, at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. Pastor Robert D. Smith and Pastor Donald Preston will officiate. Burial will be in Mays Chapel Christian Cemetery, Warfordsburg, Pa.
