Around Funkstown

School winding down

The kids are getting ready and parents are getting prepared. Only a week and a half left of school and no time to let up now. The high schools are finalizing tests and grades ... graduation practices are getting under way and the elementary schools are getting out for some Fun Day activities.

Start looking into those summer camps that are offered and pool passes that make the summer heat tolerable.

Legion team named

Another way to pass the time is to check out the park ... the ballpark, that is. The Funkstown American Legion baseball team invites you to attend a game at Funkstown Park and enjoy watching and cheering on the local boys of summer. The roster includes many familiar names that we have watched grow from T-ball to young men.

Congratulations to the following: Adrian Adams, Jeremy Barron, Dwight Boward, Evan Dennis, Aaron Dinterman, Colby Fisher, Tim Jacobson, Todd Jacobson, Brandon Knight, Tim Leather, Gregg Lynn, Joey Miller, Jordan Nicewarner, Tyler Presgraves, Jake Staebler, Aaron Stoner, Aaron Stotlemyer and Luke Toms.

On Thursday, Funkstown hosts Williamsport at 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, Funkstown hosts Mount Airy at 11 a.m.

LuHowl set June 13

The fifth annual LuHowl is set for Saturday, June 13, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The day is going to be packed with music, raffles, food, beverages and auctions.

Many area businesses have gone out of their way to support the cause that benefits the Humane Society of Washington County's spay and neuter programs.
