Happy birthday

Nonprofits at mall

Several area nonprofit organizations will be at Valley Mall in June. Representatives from the agencies will explain what their mission is and answer questions.

Radio exhibit

The Williamsport Town Museum at the Springfield Farm Barn will host a radio exhibit Sunday. A variety of radios from the 1940s and '50s will be set up for viewing. The event will be from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, contact 301-223-7229 or go to


Sunny Sundays

The Jonathan Hager House and Museum in City Park will host Sunny Sundays, beginning Sunday. Events will be going on the last Sunday of each month and are geared toward children. Tours will be provided at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. These are more interactive than the regular historic tours.

Summer reading

The summer reading club will kick off Wednesday, June 17, with a party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Washington County Free Library. Signup for the program will begin Monday at any library branch.

Club participants can earn up to three prizes throughout the summer by reading books and taking part in creative activities.

The club runs through Aug. 31. Those who finish by the middle of August will receive tickets to a Hagerstown Suns game. The teen club is open to middle and high school students and will run from June 1 through Aug. 31 and will also include prizes and programming for teens. A concluding party is scheduled for Aug. 15 and will feature music by Uncle Pete. For more information, call 301-739-3250, ext. 132.

Railroad Heritage Days

The Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum will host its annual Railroad Heritage Days Saturday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 7, from noon to 5 p.m. Displays of historic railroad equipment, trains for children to run, trains of Christmas, trackless trolley rides, games and entertainment are planned. Renaissance Festival

A renaissance festival is planned at Jonathan Hager House Saturday, June 6. There will be a Middle Ages living history event and renaissance festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free. For more information, call 301-739-8393.
