BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- The Morgan County Board of Education on Wednesday night appointed Eric O. Kidwell of Paw Paw, W.Va., to fill the unexpired term of Margaret Zembower at a special meeting.

Kidwell will fill the seat for Magisterial District 1, replacing Zembower, also of Paw Paw, who resigned from the board in April due to health reasons. Her term expires June 30, 2010.

Kidwell, 34, said he is "very anxious to get started" after he learned he was chosen in a phone call from Morgan County Schools Superintendent David Banks after the meeting.

Kidwell said he was interested in serving on the school board, but did not want to run against Zembower in 2006.

Kidwell has worked with youth sports, board member Larry Omps said.

Kidwell said he served two terms on the Paw Paw Town Council and is a board member of the Mountaineer Heath Center.

He said his father was a school teacher in Hampshire County, W.Va.

Kidwell is a former Bank of Romney branch manager in Paw Paw and now is employed by CitiMortgage in Frederick, Md.

"He was very clear in his desire to serve," board member David Ambrose said.

Kidwell will be sworn in June 3 at 7 p.m. at the Board of Education meeting.
