Students of the Year named at Salem Avenue

On May 20, 30 students from Salem Avenue Elementary School were treated to a day of sun and fun at Antietam Recreation Center sponsored by the school's PTA. The 30 Students of the Year were given this honored title by their classmates. Students in each classroom in kindergarten through fifth grade voted for the student who works hard in school and displays respectful and responsible behavior each day through the school year.

Mr. Fix-It

Every neighborhood has a guy who can fix things, has the tools to fix things, and most of all, a guy who fixes everything without a question and with joy and care.

In the West End, we have Eddie Sanbower, who goes above and beyond being a good neighbor.

Without a doubt, he is there whenever there is a need and does whatever has to be done to get the job done and done right. Most of all, he does it because he cares for all who are in the neighborhood. He takes the time to mow lawns of those who may not have the ability to do so without even being asked. If there is a problem in your home, he will take the time from his schedule to look at the issue and either fix it or give you an idea of who could assist.

Most of all, he is friendly to all by taking the time to say hello and to see how you are doing, because he genuinely does care.

Thank you for all that you do, Eddie, and know that you are much appreciated by your neighbors.
