Osborne Lee "Ozzie" Thompson

Osborne Lee "Ozzie" Thompson, of Hagerstown, Md., died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.

Born in Washington County, Md., he was the son of the late Wilbur O. and Ruth Head Thompson.

He was a 1947 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in Europe.

He retired from Pangborn Corp. and the State of Maryland. He was most recently employed with Turner Transportation.

He was a member of First Christian Church.

Ozzie and Shirley spent many Sunday afternoons enjoying Big Band music at Pen Mar Park.

He was a member of Dixon Troxell Post 211, American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley R. Stouffer Thompson; one son, Todd A. Thompson of State College, Pa.; and one brother, Phil E. Thompson of Hagerstown.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Fred M. Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by Morris Frock Post 42, American Legion.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
