Lino S. "Lee" Giannoni, 84, of Hagerstown, passed away at home and in the company of his family Wednesday, May 20, 2009.

Born Aug. 29, 1924, in Kenosha, Wis., he was the son of the late Cesare and Lena Sabastiane Giannoni.

Mr. Giannoni served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of American Legion Dixon Troxell Post 211 in Funkstown.

Lino celebrated Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hagerstown, was a volunteer with the athletic department at Hagerstown Junior College and was a supporting member of The Optimist International.


A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and with a LL.B. law degree from Georgetown Law, Mr. Giannoni retired from the U.S. Department of Labor in 1987.

Lino was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Catherine (Tillinghast) Giannoni; his daughter, Rena Giannoni; his sister, Joyce Rossmann; and brother, Sergio Giannoni.

His survivors are daughter, Celia, and husband, Richard B. Patchett, of Marshfield, Wis.; son, Marc Giannoni of Rockville, Md.; sister, Dolores Hautzinger of Salem, Wis.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 6, with the Rev. George A. Limmer and the Rev. Michael Seager officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received Friday, June 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
