Father and son charged with DUI Sunday

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A Chambersburg man and his son were charged with DUI in separate traffic stops early Sunday, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

The first incident occurred at 12:32 a.m., when James Michael Satterfield III, 20, of Shippensburg, Pa., was stopped in front of Wilson College after police observed his vehicle driving on a cement berm and driving in the middle of the road, state police said in a news release.

Satterfield's father, James M. Satterfield Jr., 50, of Chambersburg, was arrested after police observed his vehicle driving in the middle turn lane on Lincoln Way West at Crottlestown Road at 2:17 a.m., the release said.

Pa. man injured in motorcycle crash

FANNETTSBURG, Pa. -- An Amberson, Pa., man was injured Wednesday when he swerved to avoid a deer and crashed into a utility pole on a motorcycle, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

Robert R. Haffly, 60, was in serious condition Sunday at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, according to a spokeswoman there.

The crash happened at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday on Amberson Road, about 50 feet north of the intersection with Store Lane, police said.

Haffly was headed north on Amberson Road when he went around a curve and saw a deer in the lane in front of him, police said. He swerved and hit a utility pole, then a fence, police said.
