North teams take part in Destination ImagiNation finals

Two teams from North Hagerstown High School competed in this weekend's Destination ImagiNation Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn.

The North Hagerstown Royal Canadians finished 25th out of 36 teams in the secondary-school level of the Operation Cooperation event. Team members were Aetagan Arivalahan, Bernard Cabatit, Rajan Patel and Oscar Shao.

The North Hagerstown Star Girls finished 25th out of 56 teams in the secondary-school level of the ViDIo Lit Hits event. Team members were Annie Beachley, Sami Beard, Ashleigh McCoy, Emily Simmons, Emily Smith and Jackie Stewart.

Both North High teams placed second in the state competition in April in Towson, Md., after taking first place in a regional event in March.

A team from John Handley High School in Winchester, Va., took first place in the secondary-school level of the ViDIo Lit Hits event.

Destination ImagiNation is a competition that involves creative thinking, problem solving and cooperation.
