Staples employees spruce up shelter entrance

May 24, 2009

On April 25, employees of the Staples Distribution Center, at 11540 Hopewell Road in Hagerstown, donated their expertise and time to bring spring to the homeless animals at the Humane Society of Washington County.

Staples employee Sherry Pine led the group of gardeners as they weeded and planted the day away.

The result of their efforts was a bright splash of color and a beautifully manicured entrance.

"We are glad everyone is enjoying the flowers and happy that we were able to help," Pine said. "It was a hot day, but it was worth it when we saw what we accomplished."

Employees participating in the spring garden groom were Hannah Golden, Geoff Barry, Linda Marr, Jen Wilson, Connie Snyder, Paulette Palmer, Kim Pine, Sherry Pine, Terry Faust, Caitlyn Reese and Sherry Keller.

The Humane Society is at 13011 Maugansville Road in Hagerstown. Go to www.hswcmd.org for information on animal-related issues, directions to the shelter and information about programs and services.
