Mike Pitts has been hired as a state zone manager in the circulation department of The Herald-Mail Co. A graduate of Berkeley Springs (W.Va.) High School, Centura (Va.) College and the United States Marine Corps Institute, Pitts spent four years in the Marines as a crew chief. He also has worked for Citigroup.

Also in circulation, Lauren Detwiler has been hired as a part-time, assistant retail sales manager. A graduate of Shepherd University with a degree in business and concentration in marketing, Detwiler will work on single-copy sales, merchandising and service. She previously worked for Blockbuster Video and Bath Fitter in Hagerstown, and Charlotte Russe in Dulles, Va.

In the newsroom, Christian Worstell has been hired as a part-time correspondent in the sports department. A graduate of Shippensburg (Pa.) University, he worked for the Waynesboro (Pa.) Record Herald and Chambersburg (Pa.) Public Opinion.


Bushey Feight Morin Architects Inc.

Andrew S. Reichard of Bushey Feight Morin Architects Inc. has earned certification as a LEED accredited professional.

The accreditation is required to submit environmentally friendly, high-performance and sustainable buildings seeking LEED certification.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Reichard, a project manager, is a 2003 graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in architecture.

Franklin County Information Services

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Noll Wilt has been named director of information services for the Franklin County Information Services Department.

Wilt holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Shippensburg (Pa.) University and is a Microsoft-certified system administrator.

He has been a network administrator for four years and was the project leader for the installation of the county's newly purchased retirement system management software.

Volvo Powertrain North America

Dave Moroz has been named Employee of the Month for April at Volvo Powertain in Hagerstown.

Moroz, a divisional leader in logistics, was recognized for his positive attitude and willingness to help others even when the task is outside of his job duties.

He was recognied for empowering his employees to make smart, cost-effective decisions and for working to decrease inventory dollars. He was described as intelligent, motivated, open minded and hardworking.

Tastefully Simple

BOONSBORO -- Amanda Hoover has become a team leader with Tastefully Simple, a national direct seller of gourmet foods.

Hoover earned the promotion through sales volume and by adding consultants to the company.

FREDERICK, Md. -- Three employees of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association recently marked 10-year service anniversaries.

JLG Industries Inc.

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -- Tim Morris and Chris Mellott have received promotions at JLG Industries Inc., an Oshkosh Corp. company.

Morris has been named senior vice president of sales, marketing and customer support, where he will lead the development and execution of global distribution, customer support and brand-management strategies.

His background in market and channel development has seen JLG through many distribution and market changes, including the consolidation of the rental industry, and the acquisition and integration of multiple telehandler product lines.

Mellott has been named vice president of market development and sales for the Americas, where he will be responsible for all sales, customer service and ground support aftermarket services for the Americas.

He began his career with JLG in 1995 and has held management positions within various departments, most recently as vice president of ground support.

The Center for Advanced Periodontics and Implantology~

Dr. Fred Bye and Dr. Rebecca Bye of The Center for Advanced Periodontics and Implantology in Hagerstown recently traveled to Chicago for the BioHorizons Global Symposium 2009.

The "Integrating Technology for the Continuum of Care" course focused on implant and regeneration topics. The doctors earned 20 continuing-education credits for their attendance.

Bowers Advisory Group LLC

Jeff Bowers of Bowers Advisory Group LLC in April attended the semiannual gathering of the Ed Slott Elite IRA Advisor Group in Chicago.

Bowers is a certified financial planner who specializes in IRA distribution planning.

Seminar topics covered included new IRA tax law changes for 2009, latest IRA cases and rulings from the IRS, lump sum distribution tax breaks and tax breaks for retirement plan beneficiaries.

Slott, considered the nation's IRA expert by The Wall Street Journal, has a PBS television show titled "Stay Rich for Life."
