Don't forget, A Day in the Park will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hagerstown City Park at the bandshell pavilion.

The event will include gospel music and free food (hamburgers, hot dogs and popcorn) and activities.

The public is invited.

Cleanup day

The annual C-SAFE Jonathan Street neighborhood cleanup took place April 25.

A group of youths and adults planted flowers, shrubs and mulched the area near Memorial Recreation Center and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center.

The volunteers included members from Asbury United Methodist Church, Brothers United Who Dare To Care, Head Start of Washington County, Memorial Recreation Center and the Washington County government.

A community garden project will be ongoing throughout the spring and summer. Neighborhood residents are encouraged to help maintain the garden. Fresh vegetables will be available for those who help cultivate the garden.

Participants of the cleanup and garden project were treated to breakfast snacks before the event and a cookout lunch after the event was completed.

Carolyn Brooks, C-SAFE director, said, "the weather was beautiful and everyone enjoyed the activity."
