Cemetery donation drive to begin



The donation drive for the maintenance of Samples Manor Church of God Cemetery will be Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to dusk at the cemetery.

If unable to attend, send donations to Samples Manor Cemetery, P.O. Box 441, Sharpsburg, MD 21782.

Trinity Lutheran to hold food stand



Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, at 201 E. Main St., Sharpsburg, will provide a food stand during the Memorial Day parade Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.

Hot dogs, steamers, homemade soups, desserts and drinks will be available for sale. Inside seating is available.

Salem to hold coffeehouse



Salem Methodist Church, at 25 S. Main St., Keedysville, will hold a coffeehouse today from 7 to 10 p.m.

Open mic will be at 7 p.m. Singer/songwriter Jeff Miller will play on the looped guitar at 8 p.m. A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted at the door. The event includes full coffee bar, tea and gourmet treats.

Tolson's Chapel open before parade



The historic Tolson's Chapel on East High Street will be open for visitation before the Sharpsburg Memorial Day parade Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit the chapel and learn about its history and restoration.

Float wagon available for parade



Feel like playing dress-up? Stephanie and Orion Taylor have a wagon for a float for the Sharpsburg Memorial Day parade with space for about six more people on the wagon. Period garb is recommended if you'd like to participate.

Stephanie also requests that you come equipped with candy to toss to the crowd.

Football league to hold registration



Registration for the Boonsboro Colts (grades three and four) and the Boonsboro Titans (grades five to eight) of the Washington County Junior Football League will be held May 28, 29 and 30 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and May 31 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Valley Mall near the food court.
