Despite the fact that most amusement parks have raised their prices and many bus lines have increased fares, Clara Broadus and her sister, Dottie Bell, are again planning an excursion this summer for underprivileged children.
"We've chosen Dorney Park in Allentown, Pa., this year because the kids like the water park there," Broadus said.
The trip is planned for Saturday, Aug. 8.
Under the auspices of For Our Kids' Sake, three Atlantic Coast Trailways buses -- at a cost of $1,627 per bus -- will drive as many as 165 youngsters and chaperones to the park for the all-day excursion.
Tickets will cost $55 per person and include round-trip bus fare, a ticket into the park, continental breakfast and lunch, Broadus said.
Last year's trip to Hersheypark cost $50 per person, she said.
