MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A man is being held at Eastern Regional Jail following his arrest Thursday in connection with a car repair scam earlier this month, Martinsburg Police said in a news release.

Aaron Hudson, no age or address provided, was charged with one count of obtaining money by false pretenses, police said. He was arraigned before a magistrate and bond was set at $5,000, the release said.

On May 7, an elderly couple was approached by a man who advised them that their vehicle had a mechanical problem, the release said. He told the couple that he would fix their vehicle for free but that he needed $100 for the part, police said.

The couple gave the man the money and waited while he left to get the part. He never returned, police said.
