Create an Easy Picture Book contest winners announced

Washington County Free Library has announced the winners of this year's Create an Easy Picture Book writing contest.

Now in its third year, the contest had 74 entries this year.

Winners were honored with a reception at the Central Library, at 100 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, during Children's Book Week which was celebrated May 11 to 17.

The winners introduced and read their books aloud to the audience during the event.

This year's winners were Elizabeth Cofrancesco, 8, in the grade two-three division; Allison Miller, 9, in the grade four-five division; sixth-grader Aiden C. Waugh in the grade six-eight division; junior Dylan Rinker in the high school division; and Virginia Neff in the adult division.

The winner in each division receives a hardbound edition of his/her book and a copy of each work will be placed in the library's collection

The second-place winners were: Rachael Newby in the grade two-three division; Julie Hutzell in the grade four-five division; Joanne Lee in the grade six-eight division; Andrew Fishell in the high school division; and Sally Jo Bowser in the adult division.

The third-place winners were: Josiah Gillaspy in the grade two-three division; Ben Quirple in the grade four-five division; Madeline Brooks in the grade six-eight division; Michelle Wells in the high school division; and Chris Beattie in the adult division.
