Laura Catherine Gossard, 98, of 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport, Md., died Monday, May 18, at Homewood Retirement Center.

Born May 13, 1911, in Shepherdstown, W.Va., she is the daughter of the late Harvey W. and Pearl Hill Turner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph T. Gossard.

She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer for 42 years with the Springfield Hospital Canteen in Sykesville, Md.

She was a member of Hagerstown Chapter 89 of Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of the Glyndon Volunteer Fire Department and Halfway Volunteer Fire Department auxiliaries.


She is survived by three daughters, Doris Cottingham of Walkersville, Md., Janice Gray and husband, Bob, of Williamsport, and Jody Gore of Upperco, Md.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Binkley.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., with the Rev. Reginald Rice officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
