NEWVILLE, Pa. -- Taryn Ashway had two hits, including a home run, and pitched a one-hitter with 17 strikeouts to pass the 1,000-strikeout career milestone as Waynesboro shut out Cedar Crest 9-0 on Tuesday in the PIAA District 3-AAAA first round.

Emily Masters had three hits, including a two-run homer, and two RBIs for the Maidens (19-2). Meghan Decker had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs, while Erin Lisko had two hits.

NEWVILLE, Pa. -- Rochelle Christman had four hits, three RBIs and scored three runs to lead Greencastle-Antrim past Littlestown in the PIAA District 3-AAA first round.

Katy Bobbitt had two hits and scored three runs, Cheyenne Melius had two hits and two RBIs, and Diamond Byers added two hits for the Blue Devils (18-3).

Mercersburg 16, Westmont Christian 1

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Mercersburg Academy routed visiting Westmont Christian in three innings in the first round of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools tournament.

Trevor Smith went 3-for-3 with a triple for the Blue Storm (16-3), while Ethan McGhee had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs and Tommy Timoney had a double and three RBIs. Will Levangie (2-0) pitched a two-hitter with four strikeouts.

The Blue Storm will travel to play Chestnut Hill in the quarterfinals Thursday at 4 p.m.
