Neighborhood groups to meet today at City Hall

Neighborhoods 1st Locust Point will meet today from 5 to 6 p.m. at Hagerstown City Hall, room 407, for a networking session.

The monthly meetings are for all members of the Neighborhoods program and each group is asked to have at least one person in attendance.

Yard sale planned Saturday, May 30

St. James Brethren Church, at 17718 Lappans Road (Md. 68), will hold a yard sale Saturday, May 30, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Breakfast will be served form 8 to 10 a.m. and lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Pavilion spaces are available for $15 (includes tables). Parking lot spaces are available for $10 (provide your own tables).

Free movies planned at library

Washington County Free library will show free movies on Friday nights at the Central Library at 100 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown.


The movies will start at dusk and be shown in the library's side parking lot.

Bring your own chairs. Free popcorn will be available.

The movies are sponsored in part by the City of Hagerstown.

On Friday, June 12, the movie "Madagascar 2" will be shown. The movie is rated PG.

Bus trip to show

The public is invited to travel by bus Sunday to see the play "Giant" at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, Va. The trip costs $75, which includes the bus ride and ticket cost. Lunch is on your own when the bus stops at the Old Country Buffet in Gaithersburg, Md. For more information, call Dottie Cochrane at 301-739-2816.

Hagerstown Lions Club

Hagerstown Lions Club member Reggie Fallin reported the recent collection of 179 eyeglasses, 130 lenses, 100 cases, three frames and one hearing aid for the Lions Club's recycling program.

Saturday - Jerry Mullenix will present "Sirwoosh," a magic show, at Discovery Station at 2 p.m.

Low Country Boil

The Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown will hold a Low Country Boil dinner Saturday, June 13, from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Wright farm, 15544 Dellinger Road, Williamsport.

The dinner is a mix of shrimp, kielbasa (sausage), corn on the cob, and potatoes boiled in a mild Old Bay seasoning (extra served on the side).

The food will be served from 6 to 8 p.m. Sodas and water will be included or BYOB. Other activities will include music, horse- pulled wagon rides and fellowship. The event will be held rain or shine.

All proceeds go to support Boy Scouts, Coalition of Christian Outreach, Habitat for Humanity and REACH.

Tickets cost $20 per person or $35 per couple.
