CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mrs. Sarah E. (Wenger) Boppe, 75, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, and formerly of Hearthstone Retirement Home, Waynesboro, and of Greencastle, Pa., went to be with the Lord at 11:42 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, at the nursing home. She had been in failing health for the past two weeks.

Born April 22, 1934, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Milton R. and Alma E. (Byers) Wenger.

She lived her early life in the Chambersburg area.

Her first husband, the late Henry Sasse, died Feb. 12, 1973. Her second husband, the late David E. Boppe, died March 13, 1995.

She was last employed at Occupational Services Inc., Chambersburg.

Mrs. Boppe enjoyed working on embroidery, baking, flowers and reading her Bible.

She was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Greencastle. She was a past member of Rescue Hose Co. 1, Greencastle, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the fire company.


She is survived by her stepdaughter, Stacey M. Grantham of Martinsburg, W.Va.; her stepson, David V. "Vince" Boppe of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four stepgrandchildren; four sisters, Abby J. Oswald of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Margaret A. Lesher of Lancaster, Pa., Gladys M. Gorman of Quincy, Pa., and Doris R. Horst of Hagerstown, Md.; four brothers, Alfred Wenger of Waynesboro, J. Ralph Wenger of Oakland, Calif., Joel Wenger of Greencastle and Ray A. Wenger of Shippensburg, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, with Pastor Richard Overcash officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
