Hospital moving ahead with MRI relocation plans

May 18, 2009

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Waynesboro Hospital is proceeding with plans to move a mobile MRI unit to a permanent location on the south side of the hospital.

In order to make that happen, the hospital must be granted a waiver to setback regulations in the Borough of Waynesboro. The borough zoning hearing board will review the matter later this month.

The mobile MRI unit is currently at the Waynesboro Health Center on Welty Road, according to Melissa Dubrow, vice president for Allied Services at Waynesboro Hospital.

The unit will be placed on a concrete pad near Pa. 16, Dubrow said. An extension will be built onto the unit to provide an area for waiting patients, she said.

The move will eliminate the need for hospital patients to be transported for MRI services.
