Girl a winner in picture book contest for 3rd year in row

Julie Hutzell, a fourth-grader at Maugansville Elementary School, was one of the winners for the age division for grade four and five for the "Design An Easy Picture Book" contest.

Washington County Free Library sponsored the contest in celebration of Children's Book Week.

This is the third annual contest held by the library and Julie has been one of the winners all three years.

The contest was held in divisions for students in grade two-, three, four-five, six to eight and nine to 12 and for adults.

All submissions were of entrants' original work and could be on any topic.

Julie's winning book is titled "Star, Roxy and Sora Go To The Beach," after her two guinea pigs and rabbit.

Julie's book is being sent to a publishing company to be professionally bound into a book.

Julie's 2007 winning book is titled "Star and Roxy's Adventure" and her 2008 winning book is titled "Star and Roxy Meets Sora"


A reception is being held at the library honoring all of the winning authors.

Julie is the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Hutzell.
