Suns' win streak snapped

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Jeremy Synan hit two of Greensboro's six home runs and had five RBIs as the Grasshoppers ended Hagerstown's season-high five-game winning streak with a 13-4 victory over the Suns on Sunday.

Jake Smolinski, who played for the Suns last year, had three of the Grasshoppers' 18 hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.

Daniel Pertusati and Justin Bass also homered and finished with three hits each for the Grasshoppers, who got another home run from Ben Lasater.

Jake McGeary (0-3) took the loss for the Suns, allowing eight runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Greensboro (19-17) scored five runs in the first inning and three more in the second to take an 8-2 lead.

Greensboro starter Johnny Dorn (5-1) went six innings for the win, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six.

Aaron Seuss had two hits and an RBI and Tyler Moore hit a solo home run for the Suns (17-16), who had eight hits.

The Suns begin a four-game series at Kannapolis tonight.
