Two locals complete Criminal Justice Training Academy

FREDERICK, Md. - A Hagerstown woman and a Williamsport man were among those who graduated Wednesday with the 30th class of the Frederick County Criminal Justice Training Academy.

Frederick County Correctional Officer Amanda Mitchell, 23, of Hagerstown, received an award for overall academic, physical and leadership abilities, a Frederick County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said in a news release.

Frederick County Correctional Officer Robert Sheats, 23, of Williamsport, also was among the graduates.

Recruits in the academy learned entry-level correctional officer training, including defensive tactics, riot control and inmate transportation, the spokeswoman said.
