Thomas Clinton Leslie Sr., 73, of Beaver Creek, and formerly of New Carrollton, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson.

Born on June 8, 1935, in Edmonston, Md., he was the son of the late Leon Sperry and Bernice (Downs) Leslie.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Boonsboro.

Thomas, a 42-year employee of Safeway, managed numerous stores for the company.

He was the president and on the board of directors of United Cerebral Palsy of Prince George's County. He also was a member of the Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club, as well as the National Rifle Association.


He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Marie (Montgomery) Leslie; a daughter, Debra Lee McCaffrey and husband Kevin of Chesterfield, Va.; a son, Thomas Clinton Leslie Jr. of Dale City, Va.; two brothers, Leon S. Leslie Jr. of Warfordsburg, Pa., Donald R. Leslie Sr. and wife Ethel of Alum Bridge, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Jason A. McCaffrey, Anthony T. Leslie, Nickolas Leslie; seven nieces and nephews, Steve Leslie, Jeff Leslie, Emma Jane Payne, Sandy Cruise, Lee Leslie, Donald R. Leslie Jr. and Betty L. Leslie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Arlene Leslie and his sister-in-law, Ann Leslie.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 18, 2009, at 1 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 121 N. Main St., Boonsboro, with the Rev. Stephen Hook officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Sunday, May 17, 2009, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. A Christian wake service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m.
