Group to tour Heritage Museum



The Sharpsburg Historical Society will meet Monday at 7 p.m. to tour the buildings that are being reconstructed on-site at the Rural Agricultural Museum at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center on Sharpsburg Pike.

The museum houses more than 26 exhibits depicting early rural life in Washington County.

Cemetery to begin cleanup Monday



Memorial Day cleanup begins Monday at Mount View Cemetery in Sharpsburg. Please remove all grave items by Sunday to allow the cleanup crew to prepare for Memorial Day. New grave items may be placed after noon Friday, May 22.

The cemetery closes to vehicle traffic at 9 a.m. parade day, May 23. Foot access is available throughout the day. Please mail donations for the Perpetual Care Fund to Mount View Cemetery Non-Profit Corp., Perpetual Care Fund, P.O. Box 103, Sharpsburg, MD 21782.

Church to hold gospel sing



Samples Manor Church of God, at 2128 Harpers Ferry Road, will hold a Memorial Day Gospel Sing Sunday, May 24, at 2 p.m. The sing will feature the Masters Four Quartet and Kenny Johnson, the one-armed guitarist. Fire company to hold basket bingo



Potomac Valley Fire Co. will hold a basket bingo Saturday at the fire hall in Dargan. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and bingo begins at 1 p.m. Tickets cost $10 plus specials.

Farmers Market to open in new locations



The Washington County Farmers Market will be open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7303 Sharpsburg Pike.

At the Farmers Market, "A Producers Only Market" will feature cooking demonstrations, new recipes and special promotions, including fresh produce prize baskets, gift certificates, shopping bags and other incentives.

Elementary school to hold basket bingo



Sharpsburg Elementary School will hold a basket bingo Saturday, May 30, at the Williamsport American Legion.

Doors open at 11 a.m. with the first game beginning at 12:30 p.m. Longaberger baskets are available to winners of the 20 regular games and five special games of bingo. Tickets cost $20 for 25 games. Tickets can be purchased at Nutter's Ice Cream, Jefferson Security Bank, Sharpsburg Elementary School office or from any PTO officer. This is the school's big spring fundraiser.

Homemakers hold scholarship auction



Washington County Homemakers will hold its seventh scholarship auction Friday, May 22, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Elks Lodge 378 on Robinwood Drive. Six previous scholarship auctions have provided funds for 98 scholarships. Businesses have donated gift certificates and other items such as home furnishings, gift baskets and handcrafts.

Soccer registration reaches deadline



The registration deadline for the Rich Daughtridge/Young Life 4-on-4 Soccer Tournament in Hagerstown is today. Adults and youths can compete in the tournament which will take place Saturday, May 23, at Hagerstown Fairgrounds Park. Funds raised will be used to provide scholarships to send teens to summer camp. Willison, House to speak at senior site



Jackie Willison will speak on " How To Avoid Identity Theft" Monday at the senior site at the Little Antietam Community Center in Keedysville.
