County students recognized for service

May 14, 2009

Holly Harr of South Hagerstown High School and James Horner of Washington County Technical High School were among 47 students statewide who were recognized Wednesday at the Maryland Service Learning Recognition Dinner at the Turf Valley Resort & Conference Center.

The Service Stars received honors for their extraordinary contribution of volunteer hours and effort to their communities as part of their service learning program.

These students have gone well beyond the required 75 service learning hours for graduation.

Washington County Public Schools' Student Service-Learning Senior Honors Night, a recognition of WCPS students who have achieved at least 150 service learning hours, is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Robinwood Medical Center.
