"I had bought tickets for the Bonanza Extravangaza at the Hagerstown Speedway. I attended Friday but not Saturday. The ticket said that I didn't have to attend Saturday to win a prize. I feel that the firefighters or the Bonanza organization should put the winning numbers in the paper or something. How would a person know if they won something if they weren't there Saturday?"

- Hagerstown

"I live in Waynesboro, but I do most of my shopping in Hagerstown because there are so many more stores in Hagerstown and they are lovely. I went down through the square the other day to do my shopping and saw the butterflies. They are absolutely beautiful. They were so cheerful to look at. I think you should leave them up all summer because butterflies represent summer."

- Waynesboro, Pa.

"When the City of Hagerstown is finished with the butterflies, I would like to have one to place in front of my tent that I live in now."

"I just have a quick question for the Hagerstown yard ... who feel that it is their duty to go around and tell homeowners that they should mow their grass, pick up the debris, fix the curbs, and even go so far as to tell them what they can have on their porches. My question is this - have you taken a trip up and down Wilson Boulevard lately? The grass is at least a foot tall."

"How much longer before CSX Railroad are going to repair the dangerous tracks on Eastern Boulevard? They must need my stimulus money before they can get this task done."

- Hagerstown

"What has happened to the verb 'to be'? I was driving into town on the Dual Highway and was astounded by a sign that proclaimed that 'rates need lowering.' Hmmm, what are we teaching our students that would allow such a sign to be created. To be or not to be would be, that question."

"I've lived in the city limits of Hagerstown for 20 years and there is another female choice for City Council and that's Ashley Haywood. She has Skyline Coffee on the square and she's a wonderful young woman. Vote for Ashley, she's wonderful."

- Hagerstown

"In regards to the person who said about ... using bathrooms that are handicapped. They are only handicapped accessible. They are not just for the handicapped. If no other stall or dressing room is accessible, then anyone can use the handicapped ones. I just wanted to clarify that, they are for everyone."

- Hagerstown

"With a church on every corner, I'd like to know why there are so many homeless people. According to the Bible that what we're suppose to do. We are suppose to feed the hungry and cloth the poor. Why isn't it being done by Christians? I'm a Christian and that's what we're suppose to be doing."

- Hagerstown

"I guess I'm barred because I never, ever, ever, ever see my comments in this column."

- Hagerstown

"Enough with the ... comments on the butterflies downtown. They are an eyesore."

- Hagerstown

"I would love to have one of those beautiful butterflies for in my large yard. I think that they are a wonderful asset to downtown Hagerstown and I hate Hagerstown but it's worth coming into just to see those butterflies. It's the best idea someone came up with for this town. So much better than the glitter in the street or those silly musical notes that you can't make out. ... They would be beautiful spaced out in City Park."

- Chewsville
