Robert "Bob" Fitzgerald Cavedo, 70, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009, at his residence.

Born Friday, Dec. 9, 1938, in Richmond, Va., he was the son of the late Willis Henry Cavedo and the late Margaret Beiu Clegg Cavedo.

His wife, JoAnn Cartwright Cavedo, preceded him in death in 1992.

He graduated from Wakefield High School in Arlington, Va., and then graduated from American University in Washington D.C.

He retired from NCR/AT&T in 1996.

Robert was a volunteer for the American Diabetes Association, Montgomery County Chapter, and helped to organize the Race for the Cure Bikeathon.

Robert and his wife were instrumental in founding the National Capital Area Chapter of the ALS Association. Most recently, "Mister Bob" volunteered in the first-grade classroom at Eastern Elementary. He loved helping the children learn.


He is survived by his daughter, Linda Naddeo and husband, Mark, of Smithsburg, Md.; his son, Robert Fitzgerald Cavedo Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Dunkirk, Md.; sister, Phyllis C. Weisser of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, John R. Cavedo of Hilton Head, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Connor and Brenna Naddeo.

Services and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
