May 13, 2009

Hagerstown Community College graduated 48 students from its Certified Nursing Assistant/Geriatric Nursing Assistant (CNA/GNA) program in a May 6 ceremony in HCC's Classroom Building. Students were presented with certificates and pins by Deb McClain, HCC instructor, CNA/GNA and certified medicine aide.

The CNA/GNA program awards students with a letter of recognition upon completion of seven credit hours. Course content includes disease processes, systems review, nutrition and infection control.

Successful completion of the program allows students to be registered with the Maryland Board of Nursing as a certified nursing assistant. Students who have completed the program also are eligible to sit for the state exam for geriatric nursing assistants.
