St. John's Mayfest set for Friday

May 12, 2009

HAGERSTOWN -- The parishioners of St. John's Episcopal Church will hold their Mayfest on Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in St. John's Trimble Hall at the corner of Antietam and Walnut streets.

This year's theme is "America the Beautiful." This year's event is an expanded wine tasting with hors d'oeuvres to complement the wines of the regions being sampled.

Tickets cost $25 in advance or $30 at the door. The proceeds will benefit St. John's Preschool.

People may also support the event by purchasing raffle tickets, which cost $5 each or five for $20.

Items in the raffle include a framed Ben Jones print; $75 gift certificates to Aqua 103 and Ben's Flower Shop; a tour of a Virginia winery and lunch; two tickets to a Redskins game (TBA); and a magnum of Gruet wine.

If you are interested in quilting or church architecture, you can purchase a raffle ticket for $25 for a quilted hanging of Saint John's steeple (tickets limited to 100).
